Founded in 1973, we are a nonprofit organization serving Erie, Huron, Ottawa, and Sandusky Counties in northern Ohio. We are one of 16 autonomous Goodwills in Ohio and 185 throughout the world. We operate seven retail stores and two manufacturing facilities, with an Administrative Office in downtown Sandusky.
Our mission is to provide quality, customized employment services that enable persons with disabilities and disadvantaging conditions to achieve their highest levels of personal, social, and economic independence.
Our skilled professional staff provides high quality vocational rehabilitation programs designed to help people with work barriers find meaningful, gainful employment.
In 2009, we provided 1,429 services to nearly 600 disabled or disadvantaged individuals, including placing 45 persons in full- or part-time positions.
CARF, one of America’s most prestigious accrediting bodies for rehabilitation services, has awarded us 10 consecutive three-year accreditations for our various programs. That is testimony to the excellence we strive to achieve in workforce development. We also are a partner agency of United Way and a member of eight areas chambers of commerce, the Ohio Association of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Ohio Association of Goodwill Industries.
As employees of Goodwill Industries, we assume a public trust and recognize the importance of high ethical standards within the organization. Essential values and ethical behaviors we should exemplify include:
