Goodwill’s Workforce Development programs are designed to assist individuals who have physical or mental disabilities or disadvantaging conditions to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment. These vocational rehabilitation programs are designed to help such persons transition from public assistance to community employment and develop the behavioral and work skills they need to lead more productive and independent lives.

Job Placement
Program services include assistance with job-seeking skills, resume development, employer contacts, job search, completion of applications and interview preparation. Placement occurs when a consumer receives and accepts a job offer. Retention services are provided to the consumer and employer once employment is secured. It includes telephone and/or on-site follow-up as frequently as necessary up to 90 days. This program also includes support and problem-solving for both the consumer and employer with the goal being long-term employment.
Job-Seeking Skills Training
Provides a comprehensive, systematic approach to teaching the critical skills needed to obtain and maintain employment in a competitive work setting. Job search techniques include, but are not limited to resume development, interview skills development, completing applications, transportation skills, and job preservation. It also provides a consumer-driven approach to helping develop these fundamental skills and explore their importance prior to job-placement efforts.
Job Club
Prepares consumers to enter or re-enter the world of work. This service offers consumers the opportunity to work together to find employment and gather to discuss issues such as locating job leads, personal experience, interview dynamics and common problems encountered during their job searches. There are 10 workshops designed to teach or enhance present job-seeking skills. Built into each lesson is empowerment training, self-confidence building, problem solving, ADA education, time-management skills, budgeting, and assertiveness training. This is an ongoing service until the consumer obtains employment.
Successfully Dress For Less
The program assists consumers by helping them select appropriate, well fitting professional clothing that will match their job goals for interviewing purposes. This will be accomplished at one of Goodwill's retail locations. Each participant will receive a haircut and styling tips from a local salon in Erie, Huron, Ottawa or Sandusky County. Make-up techniques, information on nail care, and coaching on presentation and the interview process are also provided. After the participant has obtained employment, s/he will make another appointment for help in choosing a mix-and-match wardrobe. These other articles will be coordinated with their interview outfit. This will give the participant enough clothing for approximately 10 work days.
