Obviously, we are not actually changing our name to WOODGILL! Happy April Fools’ Day!
But what we actually do is similar to the idea of teaching a man to fish. Our Mission is empowering lives through employment pathways that foster independence and personal growth to build strong communities, which is based on founder Edgar Helms’ original vision of a ‘hand up, not a handout.’
As such, we transform the donation of gently-used goods (fish-based or otherwise!) into programs that provide individuals in our community with the skills, support, & education they need to gain employment, growth, & independence.
The sale of community donations in our retail stores fund these programs & services that directly improve the lives of individuals in the communities we serve.
